This is the only method that I've used to clean my microwave. I also like adding a couple teaspoons of lemon juice to the water, and then using some of the water to help scrub off the really stuck on crud.
AWESOME!!! I"m gonna try that next time! I bet it smells lemony fresh!!! I used to use 409... all my food tasted like chemicals for a week. Not the smartest idea I guess! My Step-Mother-In-Law taught me this method! I'm forever in her debt!
